I'm going to make everyone's life a little easier since all the reviews are for all editions of the book which I find ridiculous. I am looking for the one with the illustrations. There was a beautiful edition by La Moderna Poecia in Miami which closed years ago. This is NOT THAT EDITION. The one with the girl looking at the book on a chair is a crappy edition. No illustrations whatsoever and very small font. This pretty much looks like it was typed up on Microsoft Word - word for word - and then sold as is. The worst edition of this great book. Don't get me wrong. This book is a classic of literature. I grew up reading this book and I love it. I bought this edition as a gift and I felt very sad and disappointed when I opened the package. This is a profanation to the original one. Don't waste neither your money nor your time buying this edition of this wonderful book. Look for another option.

This is a master piece, or actually a combination of master pieces by Jose Marti. For Cuban people, he needs no introduction. For other Spanish speaking people you just need to know he is probably the greatest thinker from the Hispanic American world in the 19th century.This compilation is a must have for every child that can read or understand Spanish.

This edition is a desecration of a classic work by Cuba's cultural hero of the late 19th century. Among the many other distinguished accomplishments achieved in his brief life, Marti was a gifted poet and writer, and La Edad de Oro is a digest of poems, stories, and sayings that the writer compiled to entertain and instruct younger readers. The subject matter ranges from a retelling of Homer's Iliad to fairy tales to history that Marti thought every child should know.I purchased this book because my wife is Cuban and she had memorized some of the poems in the book when she was a student and still remembers them fondly. It was not until I found a different edition of the book that I realized the extent of the butchery that this edition had suffered at the hands of a publisher who obviously had no scruples about presenting the writing in any organized fashion. As other reviewers have mentioned, this edition is not only stripped of the illustrations that should accompany the text, but the text itself is one rambling document with no demarcations to indicate where one piece ends and the next one begins. I have never seen anything like this. It should never have gone to press like this, and you should choose another edition if you are interested in the book.

I read this book when I was little, and loved all its stories. Penned by Jose Marti, if you can read Spanish it's a wonderful collection to read to your children.

Horrible edition. I had the original book as a child, this is a joke, a disrespectful copy for such an amazing book

I had this book in my youth and was glad to see that it had been revived. As a Cuban and a poet this type of reading warms the heart.

Personally met Mr Carlson at a recent conference. I am impressed by his and SRI International's breadth of knowledge. The five disciplines are a logical approach to bringing a product to life, and could improve your success rate if followed.Prior to the conference, I read his book with three bookmarks: One to mark my place, one for the footnotes, and the last to mark the Glossary. It took supreme effort for me to read the book (I graduated from college 45 years ago)- but without first reading it, the conference would have been wothless. Instead, that book & the conference inspired me to launch a new domain name and new to the market real estate service. Thanks for writing this book, Mr Carlson.

In a former life I had the opportunity to work with Curt Carlson and Bill Wilmott. I was aware they were writing this book. It's even better than I expected! Curt's disciplined approach to transforming technical ideas into marketable products is beyond reproach. He's a brilliant scientist but even more brilliant at figuring out what will sell and how to get someone to buy it. I've watched him coach many scientists into successful entrepreneurial ventures. This book is 5 stars if you are new to self defense shooting and handguns in general. I like Grant Cunningham because he is realistic and down to earth. This book isn't filled with a lot of "tactical" stuff. its written for people who have a normal life, go to work every day, and feel they need a firearm for protection. Contrary to most current gun writers, Grant likes revolvers for personal protection. I think his reasoning is excellent. Revolvers are safe, easy to use, intuitive and even people in your family who really don't have much interest in guns will be able to use them effectively with minimum training and practice.If you have some experience with handguns and already have your own opinions as to gun type, caliber, etc, then this book will seem overly simple to you and you will probably not learn much new stuff. But if you need to know about handguns to defend your family and don't have a lot of experience this book is just about the best you can get.

A must have for anyone serious about self defense! For some of us who have been shooting for some time, there will be parts of this book that are simply a refresher, and that's a good thing! I'm 54 and have had revolvers since I was 18, and I still learned a lot from this book. It's not enough just to carry and think you are protected...you have to practice, and this book is loaded with different drills. And while it focuses on the snubnose revolver, practicing these drills with your snubby will translate into making you a better shooter with any handgun. The snubnose revolver may be the easiest gun to carry, and the hardest to shoot well. Use this book to master your snubby, and you'll be well positioned to protect yourself and your loved ones with just about anything. Buy it!

Snubnose revolvers are probably the most controversial self-defense guns around. They're top sellers every year to novice gun owners attracted by their simplicity and small size, yet are also attacked as being too difficult for anyone but experts to shoot well.Revolver expert Grant Cunningham understands this novice appeal,and has written a great "one-stop" book for the snub buyer. I have been shooting revolvers for over 30 years. Although I found some of the information in the beginning chapters to lean a little toward the basic side, there still were some useful nuggets of information: such as how to use the skimpy sights on a snubby with ageing eyes, for example. Later in the book, I feel the chapters on various drills will be the most useful for me. Finally, while some of the suggestions in the Home Defense chapter seem to go against conventional wisdom, everything makes perfect sense from a perspective of what is actually plausible. So whether you are a beginner or a seasoned old hand with snubnose revolvers you will find plenty of useful information in this book. I have a feeling I will be referring to it often.

Grant Cunningham put a great book together. It's all about snubnoses, but a lot of the information would apply to any concealed carry pistol or revolver. In this day of pistol proliferation, the snubnose revolver unfairly gets short shrift. There are many advantages to the snubnose. They are very concealable. They are very reliable. They are simple to operate. And, they easily fulfill the requirements, God forbid, of most defensive encounters. The author gives you several simple but effective exercises to improve and evaluate your snubnose skills.The book is well-organized and easy to read. I believe this book belongs in every "pistolero's" library. Even if you don't have a snubnose, or have merely considered getting one, you'll find this book chock full of good information. Two thumbs up!
