This is a light pop-philosophy book with some interesting ideas. I think it would be a great read for a young person with an inquiring mind who was just getting into deeper philosophical concepts.If you're into philosophy, you'll recognize a lot of ideas here and will have probably seen them explored much deeper in other difficult (and less enjoyable to read) texts. This is the reading equivalet to hanging out with a smart friend over drinks; you're not going to solve any of the universe's great riddles, but you'll point a few out.Adams sprinkles in some good old-fashioned advice that's worth paying attention to. I enjoyed that stuff best of all because it gets philsophy back to the one question that really matters, "how do you live a good life?"

I loved this book.Bought the Kindle version and read it one enthralled, introspective evening. I am a fan of Dilbert and had previously read Adams' great The Dilbert Future which veers from the expected satire of office life and nerds (Scott Adams is clearly one of us) and into the realm of technology, metaphysics, and philosophy. In God's Debris Adams' expands on some of the thoughts expressed in that book.It is important to note that Adams is not trying to persuade anybody of anything with one notable exception. This book is not about God, or religion, or science per se. This book is about critical thinking. This book is about questioning everything, especially our own assumptions. In fact, the opinions expressed here are not even his own, but are what he perceives to be the "simplest explanation" for the universe and it's mysteries as per Occam's razor.It has been days since I read this book and as advertised many of the thoughts and statements presented have stuck in my crawl. I find myself turning those concepts over and over in my mind as I eat my breakfast or commute to work. It would be an understatement to say that this book is food for thought. This is a Saturday night buffet with dessert bar for thought.If you are a thinker, someone who likes big ideas and exploring possibilities then keep an open mind and give this book a try.

Started reading this last night before bed, woke up and finished it at the coffee shop this morning. I'd read a couple chapters, put it down, pick up the debris that was blown out the back of my mind. I'd then pick up the book and start where I left off. I would love to say that this book changed the way I look at things, but it's entirely too soon for that. I will say that it gave me to the tools to change. It's now up to me to apply effort to the tools and make the change happen. I look forward to seeing things in a different light and fully intend to make use of the idea's that have spawned from reading this book. I will be passing this book on to my friends, both in the physical sense and the spreading of the idea's it has given me.

Curiosity about what THIS is all about did not strike me until I reached my 40's and at that time it was just a general, fleeting discomfort with what I thought I knew to be true. It wasn't until we lost our oldest daughter to suicide in 2012 that I began my journey in earnest and out of necessity to remain sane for the rest of our adult children. I made it my occupation to learn as much as I could about the nature of reality, life and death.In the intervening two years, I've read countless books of this nature so the 'shocking' premise of God's Debris was not shocking in the least for me. However, I do believe it has great merit for those people who're just beginning their own journey of discovery. This book is a great point at which to jump off the God Wagon that we've all been so conditioned to accept as the only ride in town. It attempts to wake awaken the consciousness by illustrating the weirdness surrounding scientific declarations proposed as truth and that is a great thing.I don't feel that this is a great fit for anyone who is very well-read on these topics and has been exposed to an abundance of progressive lines of thought regarding the nature of God. I found it well-written and enjoyable albeit very elementary compared to much of what I find myself reading nowadays.

This is a very simple and cursory overview of the final year of World War II, focusing on the European Theater and George Patton in particular. It also lays out the possibility that Patton was murdered, though with very flimsy and circumstantial evidence.I say that it is simple and cursory, because if you saw the movie Patton, you already know much of what is in the book. Also, if you have ever even dabbled in the history of World War II, this book will be embarrassingly remedial. For example, it gives you the most basic information on such historical figures as Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Josef Stalin, Dwight Eisenhower and Adolf Hitler, as though you had never even heard of them.There is a very limited amount of time spent on a few fringe figures that touched the life of Patton, but by and large, this is as basic as basic gets. The case for a conspiracy which led to Patton’s murder is not completely out of the question, as Patton was not a popular fellow in many circles and the Soviets, in particular, were (and are) not averse to the practice of political assassination. The event that led to his death however (a low speed automobile accident), was such a non-event, that it is hard to believe that clandestine operatives of any competence would stage an automobile accident that was so insignificant that the five other occupants of the two vehicles did not even require the most basic medical treatment. Some drunken soldiers commandeered an army vehicle and crashed it; not exactly hard to believe.In any event, if you have never seen the movie Patton, and have no historical background in the events and persons involved in World War II, I guess this could be an enlightening and educational read. Otherwise, it is old hat.

This book would have been loved by the General and hated by his superiors because what Eisenhower- because of his political bias, missed the true genius of Patton. One does have to wonder about how Patton passed because the very folks Eisenhower warned against--the Military Complex-- did not want Patton returning to the US and giving his view of the European WW II. One has to wonder if there would have been a Cold War if Patton's view of the Soviets as the next enemies would have been followed. On the other side of the coin, Patton was a true warrior who walked the walk of many before him from Roman times on. How well would have Patton survived in a peaceful world. My uncle served under the General during the Battle of the Bulge and while he never spoke about D-Dy or the Battle itself, he had unwavering respect for the General.

This was a relatively OK primer on Patton and some of the other key figures in the ETO. If you are looking for something more than Wikipedia but don't want to get bogged down by actual analysis or critical thinking, this would be an OK book.There is *nothing* in the book concerning any of the intrigues or theories around the possible assassination of Patton. Vague references are made as to why he may have been targeted, but you could have applied the same conjecture to most any senior general from the same era and generated the same result. The overarching theme of the book is "Patton irritated a lot of people with his success and sometimes ill-chosen words" - there is nothing to follow up as to who may have been involved or why.

The only thing in the entire book about Patton's death was in the last few pagesthe book was a boring account of world war two. I would swear that much of thecopy was from "Killing Hitler" or some other O' Reilly book I read recently. If youare looking for any mystery or intrigue about Patton's death forget it.

Poorly written, inconclusive in so-o-o many ways. Do not waste your money

I was very disappointed. Granted there was a noticable gap , or omission in the investigation following the collision causing Gen. Patton's death but the book does no follow thru. Hints and enuendo of some dark conspiracy, national or international left me very diaappointed.

It was an ok read, however i purchased this book with the desire to read about the "Killing of Patton". It was a nice historical book that gave some surface information on battles fought in the war and some of the key personnel, but it lacked the very thing i purchased it for. As I continued on and on in the book i kept hoping i would finally come to the spot that would address the "Killing of Patton". I believe there were a total of 1 or 2 pages at the end that referenced the killing of Patton. Either not enough research was done to adequately write this book or there isn't enough information out there. If the latter is the case don't write a book and charge people money for it. It really deserves no stars as I feel it deceived me in the purchase.

Things I never knew about Patton, Eienhower, and other WWII military leaders. Patton, I conclude, was assassinated for "going against the grain" of international politics. Read it and see if you concur.

This is yet another in O'Reilly's series of "killings." Like the others, he brings forth conspiracy stories and well develops them. If you're not into conspiracy theories, this one is difficult to accept. Having read many biographies on General Patton, I found O'Reilly's depiction as possible, but not overly believable.

KIM HEACOX has written a dozen books, five for National Geographic on biography, history and wildlands conservation. I really like this book. Here's a tip: at the beginning of the sections, or next to a picture, they will put a little blurb from a previous Nat Geo magazine that describes the picture. At the bottom of the text, there is usually a date of when that blurb was originally published in Nat Geo. Without looking at the date itself, put your finger over top of the date, and THEN read the blurb. It's kinda interesting to read the paragraph, take a guess at when you THINK that information was originally published, and THEN look at the date. Most of my guesses have been WAY off; and a lot of the stuff that was written 100 years ago still holds true, as if it was just written today.I have seen a bunch of comments on here that the content is disorganized. Yeah, it kinda is. But who cares? It's not a classroom textbook or a biography or something. It's a bunch of pictures and a round-about way of describing the history of the park service. Read wikipedia if you want something more structured. I like this book !

My wife and I have started planning trips to see the national parks. I wanted something to inspire and help learn about the parks. Unfortunately, this is not the book for that. The pictures are beautiful but the structure of the book is terrible and makes it difficult to use for anything other than just picture browsing. It's supposed to be an illustrated history of the national parks and it's chapters are laid out chronologically. But it jumps all over the place. For instance, if you look in the index for Sequoia National Park, it gives you a couple of page references in the index. p. 4-5, is a two-page reference is just one huge two page picture, page 214-215 is another two-page picture with a tiny bit of text. p23 is a picture of a window sticker along with other stickers. p27 is a timeline index of all the parks. There's a little one sentence blurb about it's origin date. p53 it's mentioned in passing. p63 there's a two paragraph blurb with a couple of pictures. That's it. Turn the page on any one of those listings (or even read a sentence later) and it's something that's completely unrelated. It would be more practical if one particular park had it's own section within it's chronological era. For example, give me everything about Sequoia National Park in the section for when it was established.If you want to just look at pretty pictures that are unrelated to each other, it's great. If you want to actually learn something about a particular park, it's useless.

This is a beautiful book, and purchasing it through Amazon is literally half the price of purchasing it from National Geographic directly. I purchased it for my father-in-law for Christmas, and he loved it- as we all did. Everyone in the house took a turn looking at it on Christmas Morning. The photos are lovely and vibrant with some foldouts, and it gives a good deal of info on each park (helpful if you want to find a new one to go to or reminisce about a previous visit). The only negative was the box came completely mangled and had been taped up, and the cover overwrap was bent and folded a bit. I am sure this was more of a post office issue and not Amazon's fault, and it didn't affect the actual cover or any of the pages, so it wasn't a big deal. Highly recommend.

I had just returned from a 30 day trip to various National Parks and forests, so I was hungry for more parks! I do not spend a lot of money on the touristy things like t-shirts, but I wanted something to commemorate this trip, so I purchased this item.As my headline states: ~~~~~ I love this book ~~~~~~~~ I see why people mention some of the random feeling of the text and photo's- however this does not take away from the excellent information, history and photography. The quality of the book materials is excellent and there is a hidden surprise or two with in these pages that is beyond information.Buy yourself this book.

Beautiful eye candy! Nice breather when I need to "travel" for a couple minutes. Great when i have time to read for longer.

Love this "coffee table" book. Great photos and descriptions along with a fantastic National Parks timeline. I learned a lot of US and NP history from this book, and enjoyed reading it.

The book is more of a beginners book, in my opinion and not quite what I was expecting. It’s one of those book-box set things, where the book is attached to the box, and since this was damaged in shipping, I’m not all that impressed.

(Defined as one in which there was peace and prosperity and no need for armed forces). He was taken to ruins of the Incas, buried cities in the Amazon and learned of his many former incarnations and how these civilizations all came to the brink of Golden Ages but somehow failed to "make it." It's all interspersed with the instructions explained by Saint Germain as Cosmic Law and is tremendously fascinating, partly because it's the true history, from the spiritual standpoint, of the Earth and us as we were given one opportunity after another to know ourselves as expressions of the Individualizations of God in each of us.

Here is an astounding memoir of King's many visits with St. Germaine. The Ascended Master takes King to hidden places and forgotten cities where we are told of magnificent surroundings and great inventions that seem miraculous. However, what we would deem as miracles, King says, are really natural phenomena not yet understood by our present society.King's memoir is at times stirring and at times tedious. The tedium comes from seemingly endless descriptions of opulence and speeches that tend toward preaching. Yet his liberal use of dashes focuses our attention on the important words of his message in a way that in most cases allows us to be stirred. Within us an understanding of Scripture and perhaps our own experiences arise, and we see a connection.Those interested in spiritual growth may want to read again and again the parts that explain the I AM affirmations and the necessity to lead a God-centered life. The practices explained here are instructive and beneficial enough to be life-changing. And although King describes the treasures that St. Germaine shows him ad nauseum, the real treasure in this book is the guidance to personal perfection. It can awaken in the reader a deep yearning for that perfection and for a relationship with the spiritual.

Do not buy this copy. Buy the green hard back versions. This is a copy of the original and poorly presented. There are unnecessary and distracting hyphens throughout the text. Although I didn't read this whole book because of that, I worry that the text has been compromised as well. The original story is true, about one person's journey to his connection to source. It is not to be copied, but to be read in the version it was originally published, the Saint Germain Press.

I am on volume 9 right now. Each of these volumes gives us more insight into what life is all about. I am so thankful that I ran across these books.We are all entitled to a peaceful and harmonious life. You will find out how to get that in these teachings.When I first started reading the books, I would get to a point of not really understanding completely what was being explained but I kept reading because the things I did understand were making sense and helping me. I am so glad that I kept on reading. Each volume makes it clearer and clearer. This "I AM" teaching is life changing.Things in my everyday life have gotten so much easier and I am at peace no matter what is happening. I have learned how to really look at life and deal with it in a positive way.These are NOT your run of the mill positive thinking books.You will learn to tap into the "I AM" power that is available to you. You will learn affirmations and decrees that will help you and your family and friends and our whole wonderful world. If you are looking for answers, just give the first three volumes a try and you will see how easy it is to get the answers you are looking for.

This book is intriguing and full of great truths. What it is not filled with is punctuation. It could have so benefitted by having an editor. I realize with material of this sort that one doesn't want an editor who might change the meaning of the message. But the book is filled with lengthy sentences that are missing half a dozen commas apiece. For that reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I have to read each sentence a couple of times to figure out what the author was saying and if there were commas between the thoughts he groups together into one sentence it would be SO much easier to read!

I can’t say enough to Capture this book, I have the kindle version; if you’re a true seeker the “Light” this a must read. I wanted to start with volume 1, and continue till I’ve read all the volumes Ascended Masters series. I had no idea I was toward the end of the book, when I felt this urge to get “volume 7 of the “Master of Light” of the Ascended Masters series and bought it, I found myself on the last page I didn’t even realize it. I didn’t want it to end, so bought volumse 2,3,7. Do not hesitate get the book.
